Cape May Breweries

For years, Cape May has worked on its identity as a wine lover’s destination but in recent years we’ve been fortunate to have breweries and microbreweries move into the Cape May area.

The most notable of course is the Cape May Brewing Company. Opened in 2011, Cape May Brewing Co. set out to answer the question: Where’s the beer down here? Now, aiming to put New Jersey on the craft beer map, Cape May Brewery offers craft beers and specializes in ales, IPAs, and lagers.

The taproom is open every day from noon to 8 p.m. for tours and, of course, tastings. Tours are free but operate on a first-come, first-serve basis so it’s recommended to arrive at least 15 minutes early to secure a spot on the brewery tour. Or, for only $10 you can do the Tour & Tasting Package, which includes four 4 oz. samples of your choice, a souvenir pint glass, and the tour of the brewery.

Children are allowed on the tour when accompanied with an adult and can enjoy a pint of root beer after the tour as you enjoy sampling the beers in the tasting room.

You can also find Cape May Brewing Co. beers on tap in many local restaurants in Cape May, such as Cabanas Beach Bar & Grill, Lucky Bones Backwater Grille, SeaSalt, Mad Batter, and more. Use the beer finder to find restaurants and bars with their brews on-site.

Another nearby brewery helping New Jersey gain a name for itself in the brewing industry is Tuckahoe Brewing Company. This brewery is located in the northern part of Cape May County and is just over a 30 minute drive from Stockton Inns. Tuckahoe brews include ales, porters, IPAs, and stouts.

Tuckahoe Brewery is open for tours and tastings on Friday from 5 – 8 p.m. and Saturday noon to 6 p.m.
