Tour the Emlen Physick Estate

The Emlen Physick Estate, located at 1048 Washington St., once belonged to a prominent family in Cape May’s history. Take a guided tour of the first and second floors of the Victorian home, for an in-depth look at Victorian architecture and the period. Built-in 1879, the 18-room mansion is an architectural marvel and is one of the most popular attractions in Cape May.

Tickets are $20 for adults and $15 for children ages 3 to 12 years.

Spend a day at the beach

Let’s face it, one of the reasons you are visiting Cape May is for the beaches. Known as “America’s Original Beach Town,” Cape May is home to some of the most beautiful beaches in the country. From Higbee Beach to Poverty Beach, and everything in between, there’s a beach to enjoy no matter what time of year.

Beach tags are required in the summer, from Memorial Day to Labor Day, but any other time it’s free! A daily tag is only $8 and if you plan to go more than once, there are three-day and week-long passes you can get at a discounted rate. Or just visit in the morning or evening, and you don’t have to pay a thing.

Climb to the top of the Cape May Lighthouse

One of the best ocean views in town is from the top of the Cape May Lighthouse. Open daily beginning March 27, visitors will be able to climb to the top of the lighthouse for incredible views of the ocean, beach, and Cape May. Admission is $12 for adults and $8 for children.

Visit the Cape May Wildlife Refuge

Another great way to explore Cape May on a budget is with a trip to the Cape May Wildlife Refuge. The two-mile stretch of beach is located just 15 minutes from the Stockton Inns in Cape May. What makes this beach so special is that it is one of the last remaining undeveloped beaches in New Jersey. The hiking trail and boardwalk are open year-round, plus two trails that provide access through the dunes. The refuge is open seven days a week, and admission is always free!

Stay at the Stockton Inns

Located along Beach Avenue, we offer beachfront accommodations at our Victorian mansion, the Stockton Manor, and our budget-friendly hotel at the Stockton Inn.

The Stockton Manor is Cape May’s only oceanfront Victorian Inn with a pool, plus it offers plenty of charm and character for a truly unique experience.
